Multimedia Journalist and Producer
Originally from Eugene, Oregon, Maya Huter is a recent graduate of Emerson College Journalism. At Emerson, she specialized in TV news production and spent her three years producing on campus news shows including Good Morning Emerson, EIV Evening News, The Emerson Polling Report, and First in the Nation- The 2020 Iowa Caucus. For the 2019-2020 academic year, Maya served as the News Field and Features Director for Emerson Independent Video.
Most recently, Maya was a Newscast Writer at 7News WHDH in Boston where she wrote daily scripts for the station's dayside news programming. Maya spent the summer of 2019 as an intern for MSNBC Live with Hallie Jackson, where she got to work closely with the production team for the hour long broadcast each morning. She previously interned at Brookline Interactive Group where she produced local news content for the Brookline, MA community. She was also the 2019 RTDNA Mike Reynolds Scholarship recipient.
With a minor in Global Studies and a multi-cultural family background, Maya has a passion for global affairs and international news. Her goal as a journalist is to give a voice to those whose stories are often left unheard, and to ensure that the mainstream media portrays more than just one side of the story. In the future, she hopes to produce TV news and news specials, focusing on politics, international affairs and social justice. Maya is currently seeking entry-level producer opportunities.
